Now that passage of "Health Care" is behind them, Democrats scurry to pass Immigration Reform and Cap & Trade before November's elections. This parody recaps their recent success but anticipates future problems. The lyrics are based on TOS that guys sang to seduce their prom dates in the 1950s, facing conscription and possible nuclear war. These days in DC, a different kind of seduction pervades.

For all we know, we won't have this chance again.
Before you vote, take Pelosi's stance again.
We won't make you "Aye!" until the last minute.
"We must pass this bill to find out what is in it." [1]
For all we care, those Tea Partiers can scream.
We come and dare, sixties' hippies with a dream.
Though government might brings sorrow, degrading some,
Our borrowing never comes due as we grow. [2]

The polls now show we may lose our seats next time.
Before you go, make our immigration climb.
We won't say "Good fight!" till few are ag'in' it.
I'll hold out my hand and my bribes will be in it. [3]
Forestall our blows to this planet, make it green;
Although we know that may cripple each machine.
So shove we the Right; though next term may fade us mum,

There are two typos in the footnotes: "rights reversed. [2] Wnat" should be "rites reversed. [2] What". The rites are reading, revising and ratifying, in their proper order.

Believe it or not, For All We Know (NOT the Carpenter song by the same name) dates from 1934. You introduction nonetheless is quite correct. Good version in the typical sly manner. ;D

What a lovely song -- I've played it off and on since the 50's. Leave it to the Democrats to pollute the intention of ANYTHING -- songs, the way a country is supposed to run, etc. They've been doing it ever since I was old enough to be aware. . .
