Just read at Townhall.Com that the salary of U S senators and reps is now $158,100, up $3,400 from last year and up $24,500 since 1998. Seems congress has mandated automatic pay raises for themselves each year, without vote. As in: "..no hearings, no debate, no media coverage, no public explanations. Above all, no embarrasing votes.." This, of course, in addition to a vast array of perks including free travel and a pension far better than most private-sector plans. Gee, wonder why they keep running for re-election?

Rod - Good job (unlike most of those referred to in your parody). You know, IF they did their jobs INSTEAD OF posturing, prancing and hypocritically wasting time pandering to their base constituencies they would be worth that type of salary - it's serious stuff they do (or are SUPPOSED to do). But they would rather wrap themselves in the flag or whatever and vote on non-issues than deal with our real problems. 5's

Funny parody and right on target. The salaries are a bit high, but they are just the tip of the compensation iceberg. Where they really clean up is the life time pension and the ability to become lobbyists after leaving office.
